Communications service providers (CSPs) face a new set of challenges as they aim to deploy AI agents more widely across their businesses. In the agentic AI world, systems must work across traditional boundaries, support real‑time decision‑making, and enable far more autonomous and adaptive behaviors than previously.
TM Forum’s Open Digital Architecture (ODA) is now evolving to help operators meet these challenges. Its component model, shared APIs and common architectural language give operators and their suppliers a head start on creating an architecture that can support AI agents, data‑driven processes and intent‑based operations at scale. But there are still some hurdles to overcome.
This report looks at how ODA underpins TM Forum’s three Missions. It explores how it is evolving from being AI-enhanced towards becoming truly AI native, including through the release of a new AI Native ODA Roadmap.
