Autonomous Networks: Empowering digital transformation – from strategy to implementation

The last year has witnessed unprecedented development in the autonomous networks (AN) field. So in TM Forum's fourth annual white paper on AN, we draw on the expertise and real-world experience of TM Forum's global membership to examine the latest AN trends, achievements and best practices.

The paper delves into the six challenges to large-scale deployment; the four key elements to implementation and the technical features of AN Level 1 to Level 5. It also explores the meaning and boundaries of autonomous domains, and the positioning of and correlations between generic ANL and domain-specific ANL. And it looks at the positioning and value of effectiveness indicators and how to evaluate and certify AN implementations.

Crucially, the paper offers insight into communication service providers' (CSPs) new best practices for AN planning and deployment, formulation of domain-specific ANL and formulation of effectiveness indicators, along with the best ANL evaluation practices carried out by industry organizations.
